One more day...
It’s the day before election day, and anxiety is high. I am largely avoiding dwelling on what will happen- my least favorite thing is stressing over things I both cannot control and that have a million possible options so I’m bullet journaling tonight and doing laundry.
I read much more in October than in September- 18 books. I am most excited by the number of thrillers I read- and how much I enjoyed them! I loved When No One is Watching and Goodnight Beautiful so much, and highly recommend both. I am planning on sharing my detailed reviews for each book on Patreon this time since there are so many, but my star ratings are below.
What I read in the last 3 weeks of October:
When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole: 5 stars
Tools of Engagement by Tessa Bailey: 3 stars
Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade: 4.5 stars
The Mall by Megan McCafferty: 3 stars
Once I Was You: A Memoir of Love and Hate in a Torn America by Maria Hinojosa: 5 stars
Goodnight Beautiful by Aimme Molloy: 4 stars
Heaven My Home by Attica Locke: 4 stars
Shit, Actually by Lindy West: 4 stars
One Year of Ugly by Caroline MacKenzie: 4 stars
Yes, No, Maybe So by Aisha Saeed and Becky Albertalli: 5 stars
You Say It First by Katie Cotugno: 3.5 stars
The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert: 4.5 stars
Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam: 4.5 stars
What I am reading now:
I finished my first book of November yesterday and loved it- it was both a little heavy and a quick light read all at once. I am not reading anything currently but may spend tonight and tomorrow reading one last YA book about elections. It’s also Non-Fiction November and I am definitely planning on reading this and this.
Links I’m liking right now:
Have you made your self-care plan for election night and the day after?
I’m limiting my news intake but I never miss a post from Jessica Yellin.
I loved this post from Cup of Jo about cozy corners in your home. Mine is definitely my couch surrounded by my plants.
I watched this on repeat.
I am perusing this election day recipe collection from NYT Cooking. I am feeling really good about the loaded nachos.
Listening to this for joy and strength
See you on the other side,
Sarah
